Edward Gorey’s extensive theatrical work is highlighted in Carol Verburg’s The Theatrical Adventures of Edward Gorey. From his work with the Poet’s Theatre in Cambridge, his Broadway production of Dracula, to his experimental puppetry “Entertainments” on Cape Cod, Theatrical Adventures is full of notebook drafts, unpublished scripts, and rare ephemera highlighting Edward’s extensive theatrical life. Verburg, Edward’s friend, collaborator, and producer, has crafted a lavish volume that explores a largely undocumented body of Edward’s work.
